Man Frauds Girlfriend Of N1.8m

A 42 year old man, Akeem Daudu was arraigned before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court for defrauding his girlfriend of a total sum of N1.8m in Onipanu area of Lagos. He lied to his girlfriend that he needed the money to execute a project in MTN Telecommunication company, but was later discovered to be a lie and that he had nothing to do with the telecommunication's company.
The charges read in part, “That you, Akeem Adeseye Daodu, and others still at large, between the months of March and June 2012, at Onipanu, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District, did obtain the sum of N1,799,000 from one Ogunniyi Omofela, under the false pretence that you will use the money to invest in a contract of installation of MTN mast and will return the whole sum of money to her with interest from the profit you made from the contract, a representation you know to be false.”
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The magistrate,Mrs M.O Tanimola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till October 14.
