NEMA warns Nigerians on Possible emerging drought throughout the country

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) yesterday advised Nigerians to prepare for possible drought all over the country.
NEMA’s warning followed the prediction of heavy rainfall by the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NIMET).
The North West coordinator of NEMA, Musa Illalah, gave the advice in Kaduna during a workshop on liquid and solid waste management in the context of flood mitigation.

Represented by the director, Administration of the agency, Amina Ahman, Illalah said the implication of the NIMET alert was because there may be excessive rainfall hence, states in the North ought to anticipate drought.
He said:

“The implication is that there might be water surplus and increase in stream flow which will affect dams storage for municipal water supply, may affect hydro power generation and irrigation.

“Therefore, the development and regular maintenance of dams for dry season irrigation and water supply must be accorded high priority during this time.

“In the same vein, there may be shortage of rainfall; we must also be prepared for drought and the mitigation of its impact.’’

He said that the workshop was to articulate the problem of solid waste management which exacerbate negative impact of flooding in the country.
The coordinator urged the participants to develop effective and efficient management model through collaboration with all stakeholders in order to address the problem.

Shehu advised residents to stop developing houses on water ways and to always maintain their drains to avert flooding.

Inside FUTO: Long snake found in boys hostel

Occupants of hostel E, FUTO, woke up this morning to find a huge snake in the porter quarters of the hostel.

At about 6am this morning, when some students were busy praying, others reading for the upcoming exams while the rest were still sleeping, a passerby who saw a huge snake entering the hostel raised an alarm and this alerted the boys in the hostel who immediately swoop into actions to kill the snake.

All efforts to kill the snake were futile not until one Mr. Dara Chikeze intervened by using a machete and a big stick to kill the snake.
An official in the hostel who spoke on anonymity said "I don't know where this snake came from and thank God there was no casualty". Also an occupant of the hostel who is known for his jovial demeanor said jokingly "The snake shouldn't have been killed since it came to read and prepare for the upcoming examination just like any other student". Meanwhile, normalcy has returned to the hostel as at the time of filing this report and students have returned to their normal duty.

After visiting the doctor for diagnosis for kidney pain, Cassandra discovered that she has two vaginas. Added to that, she has two wombs and two cervixes. According to Cassandra Banks on, "When we got the test results back, the doctor said I only had one kidney and flippantly added that I have two vaginas, as I suspected,".

Tanker Carrying fuel causes ghastly accident in Lagos.

A tanker vehicle carrying petrol was involved in a dangerous accident at Mobil junction close to Anthony bustop along the busy Ikorodu road this morning. Petroleum products spilled all over the road but thankfully no one died in the incident. Fire service and LASTMA officials are already at the scene to contain the situation.

UK taking extra measures on illegal migrants

New measures have been taken by Britain to tackle illegal migrants by forcing landlords to expel the migrants because of the growing numbers of the migrants in Calais continued through attempts to enter the UK via undersea.
Landlords who do not remove the illegal migrants or check their immigration status before renting them a property could be jailed for up to 5yrs.
The announcement was made by Greg Clark, Britain's Communities Secretary and also that 100 guards will be placed at the tunnels terminal in Calais to prevent the illegal migrants from coming in.

Ex Super Eagles Star's Hotel, Along with Others Sealed.

The hotel of the former super eagles super star, Kanu Nwankwo was sealed by the Lagos State Environmrntal Protection Agency because of the noise pollution it causes, this happened to not less than 30 buildings which includes churches, mosques, other hotels.
Though it seems harsh but the LASEPA reported that they have more than once submitted the complain to the owners of these buildings but has been neglected or haven't been rectified, hence the sealing of the buildings.

Inside FUTO: Student dies during clearance from school.

On Tuesday, the 7th of July, a recent graduate of the federal university of technology, owerri, FUTO, was in school for his clearance and was said to have been staying with his female friend at her dorm, the following day, being the 8th of July, the male student was found dead in the room due to causes that are not yet known to anybody, although the friend with whom he was staying with has been under interrogation as to what might have caused the death if the recent FUTO graduate.

Female Suicide Bombers in Maiduguri

Five people, including the two suicide bombers, were killed while a total of16 is injured after they attacked a hospital in Maiduguri, Borno, on Saturday.
The two female suicide bombers tried to get into a hospital but were stopped by security guards at the gate and blew themselves up, according to witnesses.
Auwal Mohammed, a member of the community in Molai, where the hospital is situated said, “We evacuated the charred bodies of the two security guards, another civilian and the two bombers."
President Muhammadu Buhari made Maiduguri
the command centre for the military campaign against the Islamist militant group, Boko Haram after being inaugurated last month.
More than 100 people have been killed in the  northeastern part of Nigeria in the past few weeks following a series of bombings, mostly of them in Maiduguri.
President Buhari has held talks with counterparts in neighbouring countries to set up a joint force to tackle the insurgents
and he is planning to visit Cameroon later this month to discuss deeper collaboration.
President Buhari is also due to visit U.S. President Barack Obama
in Washington on the 20th of July,  and the fight against Boko Haram is likely to be high on the agenda.

of most of it by the Nigerian army, backed by troops from
